MEET KIRSTEN

I am raising two boys with my husband, Joe. We moved back to Wenatchee Valley and have been living in East Wenatchee since 2012. We both graduated from the Wenatchee School District. While Joe enlisted in the Army and served our country, training as a Diesel Mechanic and doing two tours in Afghanistan. I continued the education path first obtaining my Associates of Arts and Science from Wenatchee Valley College followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from California State University, Monterey Bay. After taking a year off to work in hospitality. I decided to continue with my education and obtained a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning from Arizona State University.

Since returning to Washington, I have worked in local government as a planner for both Chelan County and my current place of employment, the City of Wenatchee. I also have worked at the state level as a planner for the Department of Commerce. This experience has given me a deep understanding of government systems and the important role they play in our communities.

This has driven me to want to serve more in the community where I live and raise my children. We have a deep love for our city, school, and neighbors. I have been serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of East Wenatchee since 2022. Our kids are active in recreational sports in the area. We are engaged in our school community participating in school events, field trips, and the PTO.

I have been building my civic knowledge by participating in and graduating from the inaugural class of the Leadership Institute of NCW. I also had the opportunity this Spring to join the Eastmont School District Dual-Language Committee that was researching what would be needed to implement a dual-language program.
